Visualizing Gravity Storage: from rock to renewable energy

I created a series of illustrations showing how Gravity Storage works underground. The visuals detail the complex process of using wire saw machines to cut enormous stone cylinders, some 50 to 250 meters deep, inside tunnels. Each cylinder is carefully freed through multiple precise cuts before being lifted upward by pressurized water.

When the blocks sink back down, the outflowing water generates energy, storing and releasing massive amounts of renewable power. The biggest one equals to 10GWh, the daily consumption of 1 millions households. The scale and complexity of this system are hard to grasp from words alone, which is where illustration becomes essential.
